USA Pickleball compiles comments and identifies rules-interpretation issues and then revises the rules on a yearly basis. It's that time of year again, when tournament players and referees need to familiarize themselves with these changes and understand the new rules.
A new Rules Change document for 2021 has been published and is available for download.
Here is just a couple of the new rules changes:
- A serve that hits the net and lands in bound is now in-play. No such thing as a let serve.
- A drop-serve is now legal.
- A ball should not be called out, unless you can see court surface between the ball and the line.
In addition, USA Pickleball has published a new document to make it easier for non-tournament players to read and understand the rules. It's called the Alternate Rulebook.
